Mining
The Petrotek Team has over one hundred years of combined experience in performing hydrogeologic characterizations for evaluating soils, ground water/surface water impacts at new and active hard rock mining/mineral processing sites throughout the western United States. We have worked at numerous mining sites in the western US including sites in Arizona (copper); New Mexico (uranium, copper, silver and gold); Utah (uranium); Colorado (uranium and gold); Wyoming (uranium and rare earth elements); Montana (copper, silver and gold); Idaho (silver, lead and zinc).
Specific areas of expertise include:
- Preparation of Permit to Mine Applications
- Environmental monitoring for active mining operations
- Investigations to assess source and pathways for Acid Rock Drainage (ARD)
- Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action (UMTRA) Investigations
- Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) Investigations
- Surface geophysics, down-hole geophysics/logging and interpretation
- Geologic mapping, data interpretation and modeling
- Global Positioning System (GPS) surveys
- Characterization of aquifer properties via slug tests and single-well or multiple well long-term aquifer tests
- Groundwater modeling studies to assess long-term mining impacts from baseline pre-mining conditions
- Post-operational assessment and monitoring
